Wow this is good to know especially about the amount of DSLRs sold.

Eamon Hickey said “Well, as we know, disposable cameras did not take over the world, and Fuji was not the last camera maker standing. In fact, those camera companies that The Economist spotted teetering on the brink of the scrap heap shipped nearly 120 million quite definitely non-disposable digital cameras in 2008, according to the Camera and Imaging Products Association. Almost 9.7 million of those were DSLRs, which is at least 2 million more units than were sold in 1981 when film SLR sales peaked at somewhere between 6 and 7.5 million, depending on your source.” from Alternate Futures.
